Portrait painter Christopher Banahan is an award winning artist, who creates contemporary portraits. He has built
up a reputation for his distinctive style of portrait painting, often creating an "antique appearance" giving the
paintings a sense of intrigue and mystery. His work is in the collection of the Arts Council, the Office of
Public Works, the A.I.B. Bank Collection, Microsoft and Dáil Eireann. His work can be found in many private
collections in Ireland, Europe and U.S.A.

After developing a series of childrens portraits for a fairy tale story, he has built up a reputation for his
portraits of children in contemplation, with numerous public commissions, mainly for colleges, hospitals and
civic centres, and was chosen to be artist in residence at Stratford College in Dublin, where he was commissioned
to portray all the pupils of the school. The portraits were offically unveiled by President Mary McAleese, in
December 2002.
